Froyle Park DJ Sound Limiter
Whether you have already booked Froyle Park as your wedding venue or you are still considering it you will no doubt have been made aware of the sound limiter in the Ballroom. Let Neil take a moment to give you an overview of it from his perspective as a DJ.
“Froyle Park has residential properties close by and therefore to comply with the venues music licence the local council has set the limit at 92 decibels. This limit cannot be altered or raised in any way.
If the sound goes over 92 decibels for a continuous period of 10 seconds the power is completely cut to the speakers and they are shut off. This can be reset from the stage in a matter of 15-20 seconds and the music can resume.
There is a visual sound meter on the stage that gives plenty of warning allowing the DJ to control the volume to avoid the sound cutting off and disrupting the flow of the evening party.
So the big question – Is It Loud Enough for my wedding? My answer is YES, definitely! As I write this a quick calculation tells me that over the years I have personally DJ to somewhere between 12,000 to 15,000 individuals over many weddings. Throughout that time not a single person has ever come up to me and said “turn it up, it’s not loud enough”. It’s perfectly loud enough for the dance floor, but also allows people to talk whilst away from the dance floor.
Now, if you’re planning to book a band and not a DJ, my advice is to contact them first and ask if they can work with a 92 decibel limit. Most will, but some bands won’t. It is best to check before you book them.”
